DANCEHALL deejay, Ninjaman will appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today to answer to charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Ninjaman, whose real name is Desmond Ballentine, turned himself in to the police two weeks ago after he was being sought in connection with the murder of Ricardo ‘Ricky Trooper’ Johnson at his Marl Road residence.
The police had declared the deejay a person of interest in the case, prompting the deejay to embark on a media campaign to declare his innocence. Ninja told Chat! that his days of killing people were over and therefore had nothing to do with Johnson’s death.
When the deejay appeared in court last week, his application for bail was denied, and the deejay has been in custody ever since. Last week the police indicated that they were seeking four other persons in relation to the same matter, and they believe all are from the Marl Road area.
The lawmen however noted that they have established no clear motive for Johnson’s killing.
